6th October

We were given a tour around the Theatre Royal as a part of industry week. For the first activity we were introduced to a free lance technician, he walked us around backstage and showed us how you would set up the stage and in what order. He also showed us below the stage and where the orchestra/ band would sit for a performance. While he was walking us around backstage I managed to see some of the set for shows, he explained how some of the set doesn’t always fit through doors so it has to be cut in half or more to fit them through, it made me realize what people are prepared to go through to get the show going. Next in the day was working with a woman who brings theatre to education. We worked with freeze frames and had to tell the story of beauty and the beast in 5 freeze frames which meant we had to think of the key points of the story and put them into freeze frames. This was difficult because we had to chose the most important plot points and make the story line make sense what made things easier was having a narrator if we worked without a narrator the audience would be lost. Next we had to do the same thing.l but make it modern and have the moral of the story be self acceptance, this was very difficult to shift the story to fit in self acceptance and also our group missed the point of the task and only made the piece modern not about self acceptance.

After we were given a workshop on unsatisfied customers and how to deal with them. When talking to an unsatisfied customer and they are being difficult then suggest a refund if they haven’t taken any of your advice.
